College of Medicine

Programs Offered

Doctor of Medicine

A highly focused and rigorous training program for those individuals who are determined to become great leaders in their profession. The exposure to hospital and patients start early from the second semester of the program.

The program is divided into two parts :

  • 1. Pre Clinical part (On Campus) – 2 Years
  • 2. Clinical part (In Hospital) – 2 Years

Eligibility

Students should have a Bachelors Degree/ Associate degree/ Diploma in relevant science areas (Allied Health Science, Life sciences etc).

Pre Medical Program

This is a 3 semester program for students who are fresh from High school and are interested in studying Medicine. This program prepares the student to get trained for rigors of medical education. Students with Cambridge ‘A’ levels or Equivalent with subjects in Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics will be given Exemption for 1-2 semesters depending on their transcripts (Mark Sheets). (After Completion Of The Pre Medical Program The Student Can Enroll For The Doctor Of Medicine Program).

Eligibility to Enroll of Pre medical: 12 years of Schooling with High School Certification.

American Track

Students who are interested to enter into Residency programs in USA or Work in USA in the future are encouraged to enter the American track. In the American Track students will do the clinical training in USA in our affiliated hospitals. Clinical training is available in locations like, Atlanta, Chicago, St Louis, Washington DC etc. Some of the hospitals where our students currently are Dekalb Medical center, Atlanta, Union City Georgia, Adventist behavioral health, Pickens country medical center, Phoenix Women’s center.

Internship

Internship is after the completion of the medical program. Internship can be done in Home country too after completion of Local licensing exams if any. Students wishing to do in Guyana can do so after fulfilling requirements of Local Medical Council.

Accommodation

The university has its safe and secured hostel accommodation on sharing and individual occupancy basis. It is compulsory for students to stay in Hostels provided by University for 6 months minimum. All hostels and campus are well secured with Security Services and CTV Cameras. The rooms are air conditioned well furnished and has all facilities like fridge, laundry, telephone, WIFI Internet, etc.

The occupancy of the rooms can be Individual, two-sharing, three-sharing & four-sharing according to the preference and the budget of the student.

Students are served with a wide range of food varieties including Indian, Chinese, English, French Cusines. Students can also cook their own food to minimize the living costs. Halal Food is also available for Islamic Students.

Students can do their own Laundry or can also avail the paid laundry service available in the hostel premises.
